C.A.P. Government, Inc. (CAP) offers comprehensive engineering design and construction management services to public and private clients. We are currently seeking the immediate hire of a MEP (Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing) Engineer. Our company specializes in structural, civil, and MEP engineering; and has a diverse range of expertise and a highly-qualified team of 20+ professional engineers. This position is responsible for supporting inter-departmental projects as they relate to their mechanical, electrical and plumbing design and code requirements.
Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently performing commercial building design including: conceptual development, calculations, documentation, specifications and construction observations
- Design of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for commercial buildings.
- Perform calculations and proficiency in building and electrical codes and standards
- Perform client facing, client relationship and client management activities
- Prepare engineering solutions for complex, challenging and innovative designs
- Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines
- Develop and evaluate electrical distribution systems for commercial applications using recognized industry standards and specifications. Perform system calculations and studies for electrical power systems.
- Develop and evaluate mechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs; applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
- Preparation of construction documents.
- Miscellaneous design efforts associated with projects for commercial use.
- Interaction with clients and regulatory agencies.
- Interaction with internal teams on multi discipline projects.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor and/or Master Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Strong client skills including being able to participate in meetings for new projects.
- 7-10 plus years in commercial construction working for an A/E firm, general contractor or CM.
- Experienced in the design of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems for commercial construction.
- Experience in the design of electrical, fire alarm and data systems.
- Knowledge of International Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical Codes, AISC and ASHRAE Standards.
- Previous experience with modular and off-site construction is preferred but not essential.
- Good computer skills including mastery of key software programs used daily to produce and communicate designs. CAD, including: AutoCAD, Revit, and/or 3-D design software. MS Office Suite Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
- Energy DOE II Energy Modeling Software a plus
- Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment on multiple projects
- Must be a team builder and enjoy training / mentoring others.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings.
- Periodically reviews codes, regulations and standards to keep abreast of changes to the current relevant codes affecting public and privately owned facilities throughout the state.
- Attends technical seminars.
- Participates in and develops programs for training, conferences, and other continuing education programs to keep current with technology, maintain skills, and meet current licensing requirements.
License and Certification
- Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
- LEED certification is a plus.
