About the Job

The Department of Electrical Engineering in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor that begins on August 21, 2023. This is a full time, 9-month position. The area of research specialization for this position is broad; however, the successful candidate will have teaching responsibilities in lecture and laboratory courses in one or more general areas of digital and embedded systems, controls and RF electronics, or robotics and artificial intelligence systems. The successful candidate will establish an independent externally funded research program that contributes to graduate and undergraduate teaching, advising, and mentoring, while supporting diversity and inclusion and a commitment to justice. Service to the Department, College, and University is also expected. About the Department

The Department of Electrical Engineering is committed to providing an engaging learning environment for its students. Our students graduate with a rich hands-on laboratory experience along with a solid foundation in theory. All students have an opportunity to work closely with our faculty on a wide range of multidisciplinary design and research topics to solve real life engineering problems. We also provide students with the skills to become life-long contributors to their profession and community. The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET ( The Master of Science degree, a two-year program in Electrical Engineering provides a firm foundation in research and applications in Electrical Engineering. In addition to the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, the Department is home to minors in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Energy Engineering.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a related discipline by July 1, 2023.

Preferred Qualifications:
